About the author

Peter Thorpe is not a computer boffin who wants to impress you with his knowledge of technology. Nor is he a graphic designer who decided to branch out into website design. He is a practical, no-nonsense marketing man with over 30 years experience.

The former CEO of Sharp Corporation Australia, Peter has a solid marketing background, combined with an extensive knowledge of the Internet. This combination of skill business sets, makes him rather unique and he is widely sought after as an adviser and speaker on the topics of online marketing and strategy planning.

Peter first became interested in the Internet back in 1997 when he built his own website. Since then, he has developed hundreds of websites and helped hundreds of businesses both large and small with their online marketing. He now runs his own highly successful web development company www.thenet.com.au with an impressive list of clients, ranging from small businesses to large blue chip companies.

The importance of the Search Engines
As a marketing man, Peter realised years ago that you have to have a good ranking in the search engines if you want to succeed on the Web. So, he set about finding out all he could about the search engines and what makes them tick and how to improve the ranking of his client's websites. It's been a work in progress for over ten years now and Peter has honed his skills on hundreds of websites he has developed.

In the process, he has become an expert on search engine marketing. Many of his clients now enjoy prime positions in the search engines, many come up at #1 or near #1 in the search results out of millions of results.

The knowledge contained in Search Engine Secrets is not something that came out of reading a few text books or recycling someone else's ideas. It has been gained through years of practical, hands-on experience.
